The 29-year-old will replace Atam Koroglu as the understudy to Harald Wapenaar.
Utrecht moved for Ponk after seeing their efforts to sign John Achterberg from Tranmere Rovers fail.
Meanwhile, Marinus Dijkhuizen looks as if he will be on his way out of Utrecht.
The striker played on loan with Dunfermline last term, but returned to Holland with little prospect of making the first-team.
Dijkhuizen joined Utrecht with a lofty reputation, but failed to fill the void vacated by Rangers forward Michael Mols.
The forward has already rejected an offer from an Austrian team, but it seems that he will be on his way from Nieuw Galgenwaard.
Rumours circulating in Holland are suggesting that Robert Roest is in talks regarding a return to Utrecht.
The 31-year-old defender has not been offered a new contract by Fortuna Sittard, and is now being linked with a club he played for in the late 1980s.
