The Belgian outfit are keen to lure the 22-year-old to the Jupiler League but will not fork out the fee Vitesse are demanding.
Vitesse want é¼4 million for the highly-rated Janssen, a figure which Genk deem to be unrealistic in the current transfer climate.
Genk are adamant they will not pay over the odds for the Dutchman and appear reluctant to shell out more than é¼1 million for Janssen.
The club's president Paul Heylen told Omroep Gelderland: "é¼4 million is absurd.
"He is 22-years-old and not even an international. These days those amounts aren't paid anymore.
"For our captain Josip Skoko, who is captain of the Australian national team, we got é¼900,000.
"So, of course, we won't pay é¼4 million for Janssen although we find him a good player."
Heylen did not rule out making a renewed bid for Janssen, adding: "We will discuss it with the chairman and the board."
