Eredivisie round-up

PSV moved a step closer to the Dutch title with a stunning 4-0 thrashing of Ajax.

PSV Eindhoven moved a step closer to the Dutch title with a stunning 4-0 thrashing of Ajax at the Amsterdam ArenA.

Danny Blind endured a nightmare start to his reign at Ajax as Mark van Bommel's hat-trick undid the hosts in spectacular fashion.

Former Holland international Blind was appointed as Ronald Koeman's successor on Monday but he could not have asked for a worse advent to his tenure.

After a tight opening, PSV took the lead on 24 minutes when Philip Cocu pounced for the opening goal.

From there it was the van Bommel show as the midfielder added to the lead on the stroke of half time.

Van Bommel scored from the penalty spot on 54 minutes before completing his hat-trick just before the hour mark.

PSV's emphatic victory at the Amsterdam ArenA sends them seven points clear of nearest pursuers AZ Alkmaar, and a whopping 14 points ahead of Ajax.

Blaise N'Kufo scored a last minute penalty as Twente Enschede eked out a 2-1 victory at home to ADO Den Haag.

Simon Cziommer had put the hosts ahead after just five minutes and Den Haag then had Tom van der Leegte sent off for a second bookable offence on the stroke of half time.

But Den Haag were level two minutes after the break when Peter Niemeyer put through his own net, only for Twente to nick the points through N'Kufo's last-gasp spot-kick.

Ugur Yildirim's 25th minute goal earned Heerenveen a 1-0 win at Utrecht, who had Stefaan Tanghe dismissed for two yellow cards just before the interval.

Groningen snatched a late equaliser as they came from behind to draw 1-1 at home to Willem II Tilburg.

Kevin Bobson broke the deadlock on 21 minutes but former Manchester United youngster Erik Nevland handed Groningen a share of the spoils six minutes from time.
