Amoah to snub Turkey

Vitesse striker Matthew Amoah seems set to snub an offer from Genclerbirligi.

Vitesse Arnhem striker Matthew Amoah seems set to snub an offer from Turkish side Genclerbirligi in order to remain at the Gelredome.

Amoah has just a season remaining on his contract and Gencler have tabled an offer in a bid to prise him away from the Netherlands.

The Ghana striker does not feel the move would be a step up and is happy to remain at Vitesse and will sign a new deal provided the offer is suitable.

"It's the number five of Turkey," Amoah told Omroep Gelderland. "It is interesting, but I would rather stay at Vitesse.

"I already spoke about that with the club before my holiday in Ghana."

Commenting on the possibility of extending his stay at Vitesse, Amoah added: "If it is for two or three years, it doesn't bother me.

"If Vitesse come with a good offer, I will sign."

Ferdi Elmas could be on his way to Turkey, though, as the RKC Waalwijk forward has been linked with a move to Caykur Rizespor.

It is believed that the 20-year-old forward will move on from RKC with the lure of a four-year contract.
