Vitesse defender Ruud Knol claims he has finally shrugged off his knee injuryVitesse Arnhem defender Ruud Knol claims he has finally shrugged off his injury troubles.
The 24-year-old has been beset by problems since picking up a serious knee injury in August 2002.
A number of comebacks had to be aborted at the 11th hour, but it looks as if Knol's hard work is about to pay off.
Knol came through a friendly match unscathed and is looking to figure in Sunday's clash with ADO Den Haag.
"I'm fit enough to play," said Knol.
"I absolutely feel I'm a full member of the selection again and can play against ADO this weekend."
Vitesse coach Edward Sturing chose to be more cautious when asked to comment on Knol's condition.
"We will have to wait to see what the reaction will be," stated Sturing.
"The friendly match was good, but I don't know yet if he will play on Sunday.
"But if everything goes well with Knol I'm happy, since he is a very good player."
