PSV's coattails are proving tough to hang onto, as they have won nine on the spin, but their nearest rivals are showing no signs of wilting.
Ajax thrashed Willem II at the Amsterdam ArenA, with Klaas Jan Huntelaar (23 and 45) helping himself to a brace.
Zdenek Grygera (4), Urby Emanuelson (9), Nicolae Mitea (19) and Tom de Mul (78) completed the rout.
Danny Koevermans and Shota Arveladze were on target twice as AZ put Excelsior to the sword, with the fifth goal coming from Simon Cziommer.
It was a thriller at De Kuip, as Feyenoord were 4-3 winners over Heerenveen.
Feyenoord's form has been patchy this term, but they were able to claim three points against a side chasing European qualification.
Heerenveen led early on through the prolific Afonso Alves, but a brace from Stein Huysegems turned the game in the home side's favour.
A penalty from Theo Lucius handed Feyenoord a two-goal cushion, but the pendulum swung back the way of Heerenveen as Rob Friend netted twice in the space of five minutes.
There was still time for Feyenoord to pinch victory, as Jonathan De Guzman popped up to secure victory for the Rotterdam outfit.
Utrecht climbed into the top half with a 3-0 win over Groningen, with their goals coming from Sander Keller and Cedric van der Gun.
