Ajax close on title with victory over De Graafschap

Ajax moved four points clear at the top of the Eredivisie after a 3-1 win over second from bottom De Graafschap. Frank de Boer's side are now well on course to retain their Dutch title with just four games remaining. The hero for Ajax was Derk Boerrigter who claimed a brace, which sandwiched an effort from Christian Eriksen. Michael de Leeuw pulled one back on the stroke of half-time but it was no more than a mere consolation. Vitesse and Roda JC consolidated their places in seventh and eighth, respectively, with 1-0 wins over Den Haag and Groningen. Renato Ibarra scored Vitesse's winner on the hour mark at the Gelredome, whilst Robbie Wielaert scored the only goal of their victory after 35 minutes.

Too strong

Utrecht were too strong for third from bottom VVV Venlo with a 4-2 victory, but they had to come from two goals behind. Goals from Barry Maguire and Michael Uchebo looked to have set VVV on their way to a precious win, but Utrecht battled back and were level by the interval with Dave Bulthuis and Frank Demouge scoring. Demouge then put Utrecht ahead on the hour before Alexander Gerndt's goal seven minutes from time sealed the win. Heracles and RKC Waalwijk played out a 1-1 draw at the Polman Stadion. Lerin Duarte put Heracles ahead just before the break, but RKC claimed a point thanks to Jeff Stans.
