Zwaanswijk and Lurling heap more misery in VVV

Patrick Zwaanswijk and Anthony Lurling were on the scoresheet as NAC Breda kept up the pressure on the top six with a 2-0 win over VVV Venlo. Zwaanswijk found the target four minutes before the interval with Lurling adding another in the second half to move the home side two points behind FC Utrecht, although they have played a game more than the teams above them. The result marked a seventh loss of the season for VVV, who slip down to 11th in the table. AZ Alkmaar missed the chance to move up to sixth in the table after slipping to a 1-0 home defeat to FC Groningen. Tim Mavatz struck the decisive goal ten minutes into the second half as Groningen stay in ninth. Striker Saidi Ntibazonkiza struck a last-gasp winner as NEC Nijmegen claimed a crucial 1-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam. NEC lost 3-0 to PSV Eindhoven in their last Eredivisie contest and also conceded three in the midweek loss at Ajax as they tumbled out of the KNVB Beker. But they bounced back with a narrow victory for their fourth win of the season as Ntibazonkiza struck in the third minute of stoppage time for a dramatic triumph. At the bottom end of the table, ADO Den Haag claimed a priceless 2-1 victory at home to Heerenveen. Former Sheffield Wednesday striker Gerald Sibon put Heerenveen ahead in the first half but the visitors then lost Darryl Janmaat to a second yellow card on the stroke of half-time. That gave the hosts the edge heading into the second half and Wesley Verhoek and Bogdan Milic hit back to secure victory.
