Lee McCulloch is determined to help Scotland qualify for Euro 2008 so that he can have the last laugh on some of the national team's critics.
Scotland currently sit proudly at the top of Group B ahead of European heavyweights Italy and France in the race to qualify for Austria and Switzerland.
The Scots were expected to struggle to qualify, but they have surprised everyone by beating France home and away in qualification.
Former Wigan forward McCulloch admits he would love to see Scotland finish the job off and silence their critics.
Shut a few people up
"When the draw was made, everyone was talking about it and saying it would be a fantastic achievement to come third," said McCulloch.
"So it would be great to go one better and actually shut a few people up."
Asked which people in particular, he smiled: "People down in England who have given me a bit of banter.
"We need to be doing it for ourselves as well and everyone is really looking
forward to it."
Scotland face Ukraine this weekend at Hampden Park and Rangers star McCulloch is wary of the threat posed by the visitors.
"We know we would qualify if we won the two home games and got a draw from the away game but it doesn't always work out as easy as that," added McCulloch.
"We should set out to win the game on Saturday and then worry about the other games after that. Ukraine are a world-class team. They haven't had as good a campaign this time around but it doesn't stop them having quality players.
"Everybody knows what we have to do, we have to go out and win the game and it's not going to be easy. They have some great players and their forward line is really good."
