United youngster set to face Danes and Spain

Jonny Evans has been drafted into the Northern Ireland squad for the forthcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers with Denmark and Spain. The Manchester United youngster was surprisingly omitted from the original squad by Nigel Worthington. Evans has called up by Worthington after West Ham's George McCartney was forced out through injury. McCartney picked up an ankle injury in West Ham's win at Derby last weekend and he has now withdrawn from the squad. Northern Ireland face Denmark in Belfast this weekend before tackling Spain four days later and they need to win both games to stand any chance of qualifying for next summer's finals.
