Juan Sebastian Veron has declined an 'incredible' offer to play along side former-Manchester United team-mate David Beckham in America.
DC United offered the Argentinian a deal, but the 32-year-old has declined the offer, following his release from Chelsea.
Veron says the American side had turned to him to build upon their capture of Beckham, in order to further raise the profile of the league.
"It's really incredible what I have been offered from the USA," he revealed to Ole.
"I don't know if I should say that I am proud about it but it's something nice."
Veron had been loaned to Estudiantes last season, the club where he began his professional career, and it appears that the player would be in favour of a move back to his former club.
"I haven't closed any door but for the moment I have said no, because I have my mind of Estudiantes," he continued.
"DC United keep calling me but for the moment my answer is no.
"I have been told that they want me so they can promote the league next to Beckham, but I am not like Beckham. I am very far away from him."
Meanwhile, Veron has clarified that he has not retired from international football, and blames the confusion on his uncertainty following his nation's loss in the final of the Copa America.
"I have been misunderstood," he stated.
"What I should say is that after losing to Brazil, it could have made many people think that I was going to quit the national team.
"I thought that it had been my last chance to win a title, but the truth is that it wasn't the best moment for talking.
"I never said that I had resigned from the national team."
