International dreams not dead for legendary striker

Brazil coach Dunga has admitted that he would be willing to recall a fit and healthy Ronaldo. The former World Player of the Year has only recently returned to action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a knee problem. An injury suffered during his days at AC Milan, which required extensive surgery, has ruled him out for the best part of a year. He is, however, back among the goals at Corinthians and could yet force his way back into international reckoning should he prove his worth. "If he is again the player he was some time ago he can be recalled to the national team without any problem, why not?" Dunga told TV Cultura. Dunga has never called upon Ronaldo during his time in the national hot-seat, keeping the 32-year-old out of his plans for the last three years. He is open to the idea of recalling the legendary striker, though, having been impressed by his latest outing for Corinthians.

Important

"I saw his performance and it was very good, most of all because it has been so long since he was playing in official games," Dunga added. "In addition it is also very important that he is playing in Brazil, in an important team like Corinthians and starting to score goals again." Ronaldo is hoping that his chance will come, but accepts that he remains some way off the fitness level required to compete at that standard. "My dream is to have the chance to play again for Brazil," he told TV Globo. "I have worked very hard to play again so now I have to work even harder to find my best form and have the chance to play for Brazil. "My dream is to again be in the national team, it's where I have been the most happy. I think that I will manage to find form. "I still have to lose some weight, and keep on training to get stronger, but I know that I am going to manage because I am very serious about my recovery."
