Guinea roar into top spot

Guinea finished top of Group C with a resounding 3-0 win over Tunisia.

Guinea set out their stall ahead of the African Cup of Nations quarter finals with a resounding 3-0 win over Tunisia to top Group C.

Both sides had already sealed their qualification after beating Zambia and South Africa, but it is unfancied Guinea who have all the momentum after Ousmane Bangoura, Pascal Feindouno and Kaba Diawara handed them an emphatic victory.

Roger Lemerre's side started brightly, but his decision to rest key players was rapidly exposed when Bangoura stole the ball from Bolton's Radhi Jaidi and converted smartly after a one-two with Ibrahima Yattara on 16 minutes.

Syli Nationale took heart from their early lead and took control of the game, with Ismael Bangoura and Yattara both going close.

However it was the introduction of Feindouno that truly turned the tide in favour of Guinea, as the St Etienne man continued to impress in the tournament by showing good strength on the ball to finish well past Hamdi Kasraoui on 70 minutes.

Tunisia's woes deepened when Issam Merdassi saw red for a second bookble offence as he pulled down Diawara on the edge of the box, and Feindouno saw the resultant free-kick fly just over.

However he managed to influence the game once more in injury time after capitalising on a mistake by Karim Hagui to chip a cross to former Arsenal man Diawara - who headed into an empty net.
