The Dutch, who are favourites to land the gold in the Beijing games, scored twice late on to see off their African opponents.
Liverpool winger Ryan Babel opened the scoring on 87 minutes when he profited from fine approach play by Roy Makaay.
Babel then returned the favour to his veteran colleague as he laid on an opportunity for Makaay to wrap the game up in injury time.
Cameroon's best chance fell to Marc Mboua, but the highly-rated midfielder buckled under the pressure and fired wide.
The Dutch did suffer an injury scare during the first half when Royston Drenthe hobbled off, but the Real Madrid winger returned to the action after undergoing treatment on the sidelines.

In Wednesday's other fixture from the warm-up competition, the United States were held to a goalless draw by Ivory Coast.
The Africans dominated proceedings early on but were unable to convert the chances which fell their way.
Kafoumba Coulibaly provided their most potent threat, but was foiled by American keeper Brad Guzan with two long-range efforts.
