Aston Villa have confirmed Brad Guzan, Emile Heskey and Carlos Cuellar have all been released from the club.

Managerless Villa shaping up squad for next season

Aston Villa have confirmed Brad Guzan, Emile Heskey and Carlos Cuellar have all been released from the club. The contracts of the trio were all set to expire this summer and the Midlands outfit have opted not to renew their deals. Heskey joined the club in January 2009 for a fee of £3.5 million from Wigan and scored 15 goals in 72 starts for the club. United States international Guzan joined Villa for £600,000 in 2008 from MLS side Chivas. He made 32 appearances in all competitions during his time at the club. However, he failed to command a first-team place in the side due to the form firstly of Brad Friedel and, latterly, Shay Given. Cuellar proved himself an invaluable part of the squad during his four years at the club where his versatility saw him deployed across the back line. He made 115 appearances for Villa and was viewed as a key part of their squad.
