NI hope for home comforts

Nigel Worthington hopes his side continue their impressive home form to kick-start their World Cup qualifying campaign.

Worthington and Hughes issue rallying cries

Nigel Worthington is hoping Northern Ireland can continue their impressive home form to kick-start their World Cup qualifying campaign against Czech Republic. Worthington was disappointed to open with a 2-1 defeat in Slovakia on Saturday but aims to bounce back at Windsor Park on Wednesday, where they have pulled off some famous victories in recent years. Northern Ireland have upset England, Spain and Sweden in their last two qualifying campaigns and the Czechs would be another notable scalp. "The Czechs are a very good team and we have a job on our hands but the crowd will be on our side," said Worthington. "We know we will have to put in a performance if we are to get a good result from this match."
More to come
Skipper Aaron Hughes also called for a big effort from the home crowd, adding: "We have shown in previous campaigns that at home we are good enough to play against the best. "With the crowd behind us we have had some good nights at Windsor and hopefully there will be a few more."
