Koller believes Bremen have released a player who was not fit for international duty and questioned the way they have managed an ankle injury which is also likely to rule the 26-year-old forward out of Bremen's Bundesliga game with Mainz at the weekend.
"We cannot tell Bremen what should be done, but it would be good if he could be built up correctly and get him to a stage where he is pain free and does not have to play with tablets or injections," Koller told the Bild newspaper.
Bremen coach Robin Dutt has responded by insisting the player left Bremen fit and well.
"I have a good relationship with Marcel Koller and I don't think he means to blame us," Dutt said.
"If the player had been injured, he would not have left for international duty."
