Peter Crouch is set to make his England debut but Wes Brown has been ruled outPeter Crouch is set to make his England debut on Tuesday after passing a fitness test on his suspect ankle, but Wes Brown has been ruled out by injury.
Southampton forward Crouch was denied the chance to make his debut against United States after turning his ankle, but he will take the field against Colombia after coming through training unscathed.
"I had doubts about whether I would make it or not," said Crouch. "But I've come through training fine. I will put ice on the ankle again but I am sure I will be fit.
"This is a big lift for me because I was devastated on Friday. It is not every day you get a chance to make your England debut and to miss out against America was a big blow."
England chief Sven Goran Eriksson is looking forward to seeing Crouch in action.
"Crouch had good session today," added the Swede. "I talked to him today and he says he doesn't feel anything. He will probably start.
"I am looking forward to seeing him, he is a different type of player. I hope he will do well tomorrow."
Manchester United stopper Brown has joined Sol Campbell in the treatment room, while Charlton full back Luke Young and Crystal Palace striker Andy Johnson are unlikely to be risked.
Eriksson is aware he has problems in defence but expects to field a solid back four.
"We will sort it out," he added. "We will have four defenders on the pitch. Phil Neville will probably play right back with Glen Johnson and Zat Knight playing in central defence."
