Midfielder says England were tired and it gave Swiss confidence

Valon Behrami believes Switzerland were the better team at Wembley on Saturday and tiredness took its toll on England. The Three Lions beat the Swiss 3-1 away last September but could only muster a 2-2 draw on home soil. Switzerland midfielder Behrami, who spent two-and-a-half seasons at West Ham before joining Fiorentina in January, feels Fabio Capello's side "didn't give 100%" as they were tired. He said: "We were the better team. The 2-2 draw is a good result but we both had chances to win the game.

Surprised

"We were surprised because in the last two games against England we did not have the feeling, the confidence that we could win. "But they looked a little bit tired because it is a long season in England. It is probably the most difficult league in the word. "They were not really 100% aggressive and left some space on the ball. When we saw that it gave us confidence." The 26 year-old added: "England need everyone in the team to give 100% everytime. That is when England is a world-class team.
Really tired
"But, because it was the last game of the season, some of the players were really tired and didn't give 100%. "I was used to playing in England and I know when they give 100% they are very difficult to defend against." England have now gone four games without a win at Wembley and Behrami revealed he sensed anxiety among the 84,000 crowd during the match. He said: "To get England fans behind you, you need all the players to give 100%. Then Wembley can be intimidating. "But after 10 minutes, we showed we were going to give England a game and the crowd started to get frustrated."
