Former Netherlands boss Guus Hiddink is unlikely to succeed Fabio Capello as England manager, according to his agent.
Reports emerged after Capello's resignation on Wednesday that intimated Dutch manager Hiddink, who is currently without a club, would welcome an approach from the Football Association over the role.
But his agent, Cees van Nieuwenhuizen, claims he has not received any interest in Hiddink from the FA and does not believe he is a likely candidate.
He told
Voetbal International: "It does not seem apparent, but that is my personal interpretation.
"I have seen the reports on the internet this morning but I know nothing further.
"I have no idea where this came from. It comes completely out of thin air.
"I've definitely not been approached."
Terry
Capello's resignation came after the FA stripped John Terry of the England captaincy without consulting the Italian boss.
Terry will stand trial in the summer for the alleged racial abuse of QPR defender Anton Ferdinand, an incident which prompted the FA to demote him.
Hiddink worked with Terry during a stint as Chelsea's caretaker manager in 2009 and Van Nieuwenhuizen feels he would be put in a difficult position if he did assume the England role.
He added: "During his time at Chelsea, Guus always got on very well with John Terry - a person who has much to do with the England team.
"It would be a strange situation for Guus to face in the future."
Hiddink has coached a number of national sides over the course of his illustrious career, including Holland and South Korea, while his last job was with Turkey.
