FA suspends ticket sales for Switzerland game due to Tube strike

Wembley Park underground station lies empty due to the underground strike creating travel chaos for thousands of England fans.

The Football Association has suspended ticket sales for the European Qualifier between England and Switzerland because of a proposed tube strike.

The FA says it has made the "temporary" move to allow "transport providers to ensure they can manage current ticket holders' journey to the stadium on the night of the game".

Last November the capacity for a fixture between England's women and Germany was capped at 55,000 because Wembley Park tube station was closed due to planned works.

That resulted in chaotic scenes, with almost 10,000 of those 55,000 who bought tickets unable to make it to the stadium on match day.

The RMT has set dates of September 8 and 10 for strikes if an agreement cannot be reached regarding pay and conditions for an all-night service.
