Gary Naysmith has called on his team-mates to make John Arne Riise regret writing off Scotland.
Everton's Gary Naysmith has called for his team-mates to make Norway's John Arne Riise regret writing off Scotland ahead of their World Cup qualifying tie at Hampden Park
Liverpool and Norwegian stopper Riise has wound up the Tartan Army by stating that he fully expects his side to take maximum points against their Scottish opponents.
This remark has angered Naysmith, but the defender believes Riise's comments will only spur Scotland on.
He said: "If he is speaking on behalf of the team they must be expecting to come here and take three points.
"That is definitely an incentive to us, though we knew it was a tough group with all the teams outside Italy capable of taking points off each other."
So far both teams have failed to record a win in their group. The Scots drew at home to Slovenia, Norway lost in Italy and were held at home by Belarus.
Whilst Scotland boss Berti Vogts is adamant it is not a must-win game, Norway striker John Carew insists his side must win to have a chance of qualifying for the 2006 World Cup.
The Besiktas striker said: "We think it is possible to beat Scotland but we know we have to work hard to do it.
"It will be a difficult match and there will be a great atmosphere but we have a good enough team to do it.
"It is a must-win game for Norway."
