Norway could be without Steffen Iversen for the Scotland game.Norway could be without Steffen Iversen for their crunch World Cup qualifier against Scotland
Iversen strained his stomach muscles in the 3-2 win against Slovenia but is confident that he can recover in time for the Scotland game on Wednesday.
"Yes I hope so," said Iversen when asked if he was fit to play.
Team doctor Thor Einar Andersen expanded on the injury and its repercussions.
"He strained his muscles but there is a few days before the next match and I believe we will get it in order," said Andersen.
Experienced forward Egil Ostenstad has been brought in as cover, should Iversen fail to win his fitness battle.
"We know what you get when we bring in Egil," explained coach Age Hareide.
"He has been professional and knows what is required."
Norway will be without Erik Hagen, Jon Inge Hoiland and, most crucially, Blackburn winger Morten Gamst Pedersen for the game after the trio picked up yellow cards and one-match suspensions.
Liverpool's John Arne Riise will return to the side after serving a similar one-match ban for the Slovenia game.
