Wales boosted their World Cup qualifying hopes with a win over Scotland on Friday and Coleman has called on his players to build on that victory.
Coleman knows they face a difficult game against Croatia, but he is optimistic they can get a positive result away from home.
"We've done well on Friday, a magnificent result, a great performance, but that's then - now we have got to go and perform and take something out of the game and we will do that if we concentrate on our performance first and foremost," Coleman told Sky Sports News.
"It's not a game you totally write off and go 'we are not going to get anything here', we have got to go and get something there.
"You have got ten games in qualifying and you have got to take something, as hard as it is maybe, home and away you have got to take something out of the game.
"There is no better feeling than going away with your country to a tough place against a good team and you get something and you perform.
"That is what really gives you that confidence and that is what we must do. It is a tough, tough game for us but one we think we can get something out of."
