Daryl Fordyce marked his Under-21 debut with a goal in Northern Ireland's 2-1 defeat to their Germany counterparts.
The Portsmouth midfielder put the visitors in front before goals from Jerome Boateng and Kevin Schindler earned Germany the win.
Northern Ireland were in front on 10 minutes when Fordyce headed home a cross from Jamie Mulgrew.
Within five minutes the home side had drawn level as Boateng pounced for the equaliser.
Schindler then scored the decisive goal in first-half injury time, although Northern Ireland had a great chance to equalise in the second period.
On 65 minutes, Rory McArdle found himself in a great position, but he could only head wide with the goal gaping.
With 18 minutes left, Northern Ireland were reduced to 10 men after Kieran McKenna picked up a second yellow card.
