Northern Ireland defender Chris Baird is hopeful his team-mates can raise their game when they host Czech Republic on Wednesday, live on Sky Sports 2.
Nigel Worthington's men began their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-1 defeat against Slovakia in Bratislava at the weekend.
Baird is aware Northern Ireland underperformed versus the Slovaks but is eyeing a response in front of the Windsor Park faithful.
The Fulham man said: "We are not giving up on it that easily. Two years ago it was the same.
"We lost to Iceland then beat Spain so we'll be hoping to do something similar to get us up and running.
"We are gutted at the result in Slovakia. We don't think we played at our best and could have done a lot more. We made it hard for ourselves.
"But we have a proud home record, which gives us a good chance, although we have to up our game."
