Boyce and Gray were added to the squad for games against Uruguay on May 30 and Chile on June 4 after the withdrawals of Martin Paterson and Jamie Ward.
Gray has been promoted to the senior squad after regular appearances for the Under-21s, while Boyce returns following a three-year absence.
The 21-year-old Accrington midfielder has caught the eye of coach Michael O'Neill after scoring seven goals for the League Two side last season.
Boyce was capped by previous boss Nigel Worthington while he was contracted to Werder Bremen, but becomes the only Irish League player in the 23-man squad.
He has been in prolific form since returning to Belfast from Germany, helping the Reds to successive league titles.
Northern Ireland face two tough matches in South America as they are without a number of first-choice players, including Jonny Evans, Gareth McAuley, Chris Brunt and Kyle Lafferty.
