The Republic of Ireland's injury problems have worsened ahead of Friday's World Cup qualifier with Germany after Sean St Ledger and Glenn Whelan were ruled out.
The absence of Dunne and St Ledger means that John O'Shea could be moved into central defence, while James McCarthy, David Meyler and Keith Fahey are candidates to replace Whelan in midfield.
