Mutu recently returned from his enforced spell on the sidelines due to a drugs ban and national coach Victor Piturca clearly believes he is match fit as the striker is under consideration to face the Dutch at the weekend.
Van Basten is aware of Mutu's qualities and has warned his players to keep a close eye on the Juventus marksman.
"Mutu is a very good player," said van Basten. "He played for Chelsea and now Juventus, two of the big teams in Europe.
"If you are able to play for these clubs you have a lot of quality
"If he is on the field, he will be a big danger."
Dutch midfielder Mark van Bommel is looking for three points in Rotterdam, as the Oranje aim to secure safe passage through Group 1 of World Cup qualifying.
"We have a good mix of young and older players and let's hope we can win against Romania and Finland," he said.
"If we do, we are almost set for Germany."
