Trap announces Romania squad

By Nadia Carminati
Italy boss Giovanni Trapattoni has called up two new players for Sunday's friendly versus Romania in Ancona.

The Azzurri boss has brought in Sampdoria striker Fabio Bazzani and Parma defender Marcello Castellini for the match against the Romanians.

The announcement comes after Trapattoni took a similar squad to Warsaw for a friendly versus Poland - a match the Italians lost 3-1 on Wednesday.

There was thought that Sunday's friendly was in doubt after news that 18 Italians soldiers were killed in a bomb attack on their headquarters while on duty in the Iraqi city of Nassirya.

However, The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) have decided to play the friendly and donate the gate proceeds to the families of the fallen soldiers.

Italy squad to face Romania:
Christian Abbiati (Milan), Francesco Toldo (Internazionale); Christian Panucci (Roma), Massimo Oddo (Lazio), Fabio Cannavaro (Internazionale), Matteo Ferrari (Parma), Fabio Grosso (Perugia), Marcello Castellini (Parma), Giuseppe Pancaro (Milan), Gianluca Zambrotta (Juventus); Marco Marchionni (Parma), Damiano Tommasi (Roma), Andrea Pirlo (Milan), Massimo Ambrosini (Milan), Simone Perrotta (Chievo); Antonio Cassano (Roma), Marco Di Vaio (Juventus), Francesco Totti (Roma), Simone Inzaghi (Lazio), Fabio Bazzani (Sampdoria)
