Gianluigi Buffon believes that Francesco Totti can turn Italy's fortunes around after the disappointment of a 1-0 defeat to Slovenia.The Azzurri were stunned by the defeat, but goalkeeper Buffon believes that Totti can rise above criticism and inspire victory.
The Roma captain was singled out on his return from an international ban after being found guilty of spitting on an opponent in Euro 2004.
"Totti must drive us to overwhelm Belarus on Wednesday," said Buffon.
"He's a unique player and has the ability to lift us up.
"I've spoken to him and told him that he was wrong [to spit] but that he has paid his dues.
"He's a sensitive guy but also a unique player, so he has to start allowing us to win some games."
Meanwhile, Mauro Camoranesi sat out training after taking a knock in the Slovenia game.
