Marcello Lippi has dropped Francesco Totti and Alessandro Del Piero.Italy coach Marcello Lippi has left Francesco Totti and Alessandro Del Piero out of the squad to face Norway next weekend.
Lippi has named a 22-man squad for the trip to Oslo next Saturday for the crucial World Cup qualifier.
The omission of Del Piero comes as something of a surprise as even though he has not featured for Italy since September he has been in good form of late helping Juventus to win the title.
Roma captain Totti only returned to action this weekend after a five-game suspension and his lack of recent action has seen him left out by Lippi.
Internazionale striker Christian Vieri returns to the squad after a series of injuries limited his appearances for the national team in recent games.
Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso is missing from the squad as he is suspended and there is no call-up for Serie A top scorer Cristiano Lucarelli.
