Italy coach Roberto Donadoni will meet with Francesco Totti to discuss his future.
Italy coach Roberto Donadoni has confirmed he will meet with Francesco Totti in a bid to clarify the World Cup winner's international future.
The Roma captain intimated last month that he would call time on his international career after the Azzurri's triumph in Germany, but he has since had a change of heart.
Donadoni is eager to discuss Totti's future, and will meet with the player at the Giallorossi's Italian Supercup match against Internazionale at the weekend.
Totti is believed to be keen to resolve concerns over his fitness, though, before committing one way or the other.
"I've spoken with Totti and I will meet him at the San Siro on Saturday - we will then have the chance to talk properly," Donadoni told Sky Italia.
"What he said is positive and once his fitness improves then I am sure he will be a major asset to the national team."
Donadoni also denied reports suggesting Antonio Cassano's inclusion in the Azzurri's squad to face Lithuania and France in Euro 2008 qualifiers next month is a foregone conclusion.
The former Livorno coach confirmed to Spanish daily AS on Tuesday that he was impressed by the striker's pre-season form for Real Madrid, leading some to claim he was a shoo-in for a call up.
"This is not true. Cassano, like all the other players, will have to deserve a call up with good performances for Real Madrid," added Donadoni.
"I've seen him play and he has done well, but it is wrong to say that he will definitely be called up."
