The Bayern Munich left-back, currently on-loan at this year's UEFA Champions League surprise package Stuttgart, has been in imperious form in the Bundesliga this term and Voller's confidence in the 20-year-old was vindicated, as the youngster delivered a polished debut performance.
''Philipp did a great job,'' said Voller. ''He's only 20 and when you actually look at his face you believe he's only 15 or so.
''But he has enormous pace and plays care free, while he has also shown that tactically he is up to date with the flat back-four.
''He knows exactly when to press forward and when to remain at the back in order not to give his opponent any space.''
Germany won the game through an injury-time strike from Carsten Ramelow and Voller was delighted with the determination of his team, in picking themselves up from a late Croatia equalizer.
''After being 1-0 up we had chances to extent our lead but we couldn't use them and finally paid the price by conceding a late equalizer,'' continued Voller.
''But then we showed an excellent reaction and strode back again.
''After the 3-0 defeat by France in our last game, this win feels very good.''
