Germany striker Miroslav Klose will miss the Confederations Cup with a knee injury.Germany's build-up to the Confederations Cup has suffered a further setback as Werder Bremen's Miroslav Klose has been forced out through injury.
The striker, who performed admirably for his country during the 2002 World Cup, complained of knee pains after playing in Germany's friendly against Bayern Munich this week.
The unusual match-up was staged to mark the inauguration of Bayern's all-new Allianz-Arena, but has had unforeseen consequences for Germany boss Jurgen Klinsmann as Klose was discovered to be suffering from an inflamed mucous membrane.
The former Tottenham hero has called up Wolfsburg striker Thomas Brdaric to make up for Klose's absence, after the 30-year-old netted 13 times in Die Bundesliga this season.
This latest development follows the withdrawal of Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann as Klinsmann prepares to take an under strength side to the German hosted Fifa tournament.
