Germany star Miroslav Klose says he is thrilled Lukas Podolski has found form.
Germany star Miroslav Klose says he is thrilled strike partner Lukas Podolski has rediscovered his goalscoring touch.
Podolski had come under fire in the German media for a couple of lacklustre displays during the group stages, while it had been suggested that he and Klose do not see eye-to-eye.
The under pressure Podolski broke his duck in Germany's final group game and promptly took the plaudits in the second round win over Sweden, with his brace sealing a 2-0 win.
Klose was one of the first to celebrate with Podolski following his goals against Sweden, while the pair embraced at the final whistle, and the Werder Bremen man felt it was right for the players to show their support for Podolski.
"This is a good partnership," Klose told Kicker. "We have to show emotion at times, otherwise things do not function effectively.
"Lukas is important to this team and I wanted to show that."
The pair appeared to gel superbly against Sweden and Klose feels it was a sign that Germany are starting to find form.
"The whole squad moved well," added Klose. "If a gap opened, someone found it. It was something we profited from."
