Manchester City defender suffering from virus
Germany have suffered a blow with the news that defender Jerome Boateng has been ruled out of the Euro 2012 qualifier against Kazakhstan.
The Manchester City player is suffering from a bout of flu and head coach Joachim Low has confirmed he will miss the game in Astana.
Boateng's left-back position is expected to be filled by Heiko Westermann, who played in Friday's impressive 3-0 home victory against Turkey.
Low is also waiting on the fitness of playmaker Mesut Ozil, who injured his left ankle against Turkey.
The Real Madrid star is expected to undergo a late fitness test ahead of the qualifier.
Germany head Group A on nine points with Kazakhstan at the foot of the table after notching up their third straight defeat, to Belgium, in their latest qualifier last week.
