Saez has called a press conference for Tuesday morning where he will clear up speculation surrounding his future following his side's disappointing showing.
The Spaniards seemed intent on playing for the draw they needed to qualify, and didn't show anything like their true form until Nuno Gomes had put Portugal 1-0 up well into the second half.
Valencia star Vicente feels Saez blundered badly by not going all out for victory from the first whistle.
"At the beginning we held out well, but then you saw we did not have the ball and it was impossible," fumed the wideman.
"We are not a team made to hold out and we came out on to the pitch only to hold out.
"We are a team that has to come out to play and to press, and only Portugal did this."
Real Betis winger Joaquin echoed the sentiments of his team-mate, stating that Spain had started on the back foot and never recovered.
"We came out on the defensive," he added. "We knew they would come out very strongly and that we had to hold out at the start, but by the time we reacted we were already pinned back.
"We were so obsessed with defending that even I forgot about attacking and I am not used to defending so much.
"We made mistakes when we had the ball and, although we lacked luck, they (Portugal) were better."
