Jose Antonio Reyes has slammed Mikael Silvestre for his comments about Spain coach Luis Aragones.The Manchester United defender criticised Aragones for a racist remark he made about Thierry Henry in October 2004.
However, Reyes is furious that the issue has been dragged up again, and believes that it is a pathetic attempt to rile Spain ahead of their World Cup second round clash against France.
"I think it is nonsense for Silvestre to try and heat up the game and it is because they are nervous about being eliminated," fumed Reyes.
"Silvestre knows well that Aragones is not a racist.
"I do not even know if it is true what the Manchester United player has said about our manager but he is making a big mistake if he is calling him racist.
"The matter was all cleared up a year-and-a-half ago so I don't understand why he has to talk about it now."
Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas is in more relaxed mood, revealing that he had warned Henry about Spain's threat before they left Arsenal at the end of the season to join up with their respective countries.
"I've been saying it jokingly, but sometimes jokes are true," said Fabregas.
"It's a fact that we feel quite sure we can go far.
"We have all the conditions needed to win the World Cup - a great team with a great manager and a great country."
