Monaco striker Frederic Piquionne has expressed his delight after being named in the France squad for the upcoming Euro 2008 qualifier against Lithuania.
With the likes of Thierry Henry and Louis Saha injured, Raymond Domenech opted for Piquionne rather than David Trezeguet in his 23-man squad.
Piquionne has been in fine form since joining Monaco from St Etienne in January and is determined to make the most of his chance.
"First of all, I am happy to wear that shirt," Piquionne told Monaco's official website.
"When I come to wear it I will think of my family and all the people that have helped me to be where I am today.
"But to justify this selection, I will have to produce a great performance against Nantes on Saturday.
"I don't want to put too much pressure on myself, but I have to be strong. This news motivates me even more."
Marseille youngster Samir Nasri has also been included in the France squad, and has been backed to take the international scene by storm by club coach Albert Emon.
"I don't think it is ever too early to join France," said Emon.
"Samir has played for Marseille for years. He comes from our academy and has learned everything here.
"His talent makes him the player he is today.
"He is 100 percent professional and has played great football for the last three months."
