France boss backs midfielder after goal celebration

Laurent Blanc had no criticism of Samir Nasri's goal celebration after he salvaged a draw for France against England in Donetsk. The Manchester City playmaker fired Les Bleus level in the 39th minute with a powerful shot from just outside the area that beat Joe Hart at his near post. He responded by running past the England bench and allegedly shouting 'shut your gob', before putting his finger to his lips. It later emerged that Nasri had aimed his gesture at those members of the French press that had recently questioned his place in the side. Blanc has no problem with Nasri hitting back at his critics and instead praised the midfielder for a fine display against the Three Lions.

Detractors

Asked about Nasri's celebration, Blanc said: "That's between him and his detractors. "That's something personal. There are individual and personal reactions. These are things we don't always expect. "Samir was happy to score a goal and play a good game. "Maybe he was saying it to a friend... I'm joking. You'd have to ask him who he was directing that to."
