Former Man City man given green light after ankle injury

Brazil midfielder Elano will be fit enough to take on Chile in Monday's round of 16 match. Elano, who scored in both of Brazil's opening two matches, has enjoyed an impressive tournament but emerged as a doubt for the clash after picking up a knock on his ankle. The former Manchester City player took part in full training on Saturday and a spokesperson from Brazil confirmed he would be available to play. Elano had missed his country's dour 0-0 draw against Portugal on Friday, as did playmaker Robinho, but he too trained in the session and should feature against the Chileans. Felipe Melo still remains a concern for coach Dunga after twisting an ankle in the bruising clash in Druban, while Julio Baptista - who hurt his knee in the same game - is also a worry. But the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said on their official website the duo had "improved considerably" in their quest to be fit for the game.
