The scout reports...

We look at Manchester United's Chilean starlet Angelo Henriquez. Henriquez joined United this summer, officially, although they had his signature tied up some time ago. But things could have been very different for Henriquez as his early dream was to be a full-time tennis player and he continued with this path up until the age of 12 when he opted for football. Then at 13, Henriquez was taken on by Universidad de Chile. Remarkably within two years of this, English giants had made their move for him. United secured first-option on Henriquez, agreeing a deal which gave them until 2014 to take the player for a set fee, subject to a work permit. This was in 2009 and the Red Devils have been trying to bring him over ever since. Henriquez has since spent numerous weeks training with United, whilst they worked on getting him clearance to play in England - but he was also making progress both domestically and internationally. 2011 was when Henriquez made his big breakthrough, debuting for Universidad's first-team and making a huge impact and helped them win the domestic title and the Copa Sudamericana. 11 goals in 17 games was the result. He has also been making huge strides on the international front, and from 2009 he started playing for Chile's youth sides. He has now progressed to play for for all their national sides before his senior debut this year which resulted in him scoring against Serbia. Following his excellent form for Universidad, this allowed United to press ahead with their bid to finally bring him to England, and they needed to move as Henriquez was attracting interest from elsewhere, including from rivals Manchester City. United announced a deal in mid-August, although this was not sanctioned until mid-September, meaning he could not be registered for any competition until the New Year. Nevertheless, Henriquez is benefiting from his time training with United's first-team - although a loan deal, possibly to the Championship in January is already being mooted. Henriquez is likely to go out on loan at some stage, which could be quite important for his education in English football. A clear talent, Henriquez has described Thierry Henry as his favourite player - but interestingly admits he is more like Ruud van Nistelrooy, and that is relatively easy to see. A pure goalscorer, Henriquez knows where the goal is, it is that simple - he is a natural. In the air, on the ground, taking it first time - he can do it all, and United do look to have another gem on their hands.

The scout says...

A loan move will no doubt do Henriquez good and United are very good at finding the right move. But you cannot rule out given a chance, like Javier Hernandez - he could easily make a sudden breakthrough.
