The latest player to be spotlighted is Iraq's Ali Adnan.
The scout reports...
Labelled as 'Asia's Gareth Bale' - it came as little surprise to many that Adnan was a stand-out figure at the recent Under-20 World Cup.
Even before the tournament in Turkey, Adnan had already built up something of a reputation - given he was already a full international.
Adnan is an impressive figure, standing over 6ft. He is not an archetypal looking full-back but he has long looked destined for a life in football.
His father played for Iraq at youth level, whilst his uncle Ali Kadhim is regarded as one of the country's best ever players.
His father helped guide his career as a youngster, spending time with a number of clubs before joining Baghdad FC aged 15.
At 16 Adnan's abilities were spotted and he was soon training with the senior side, with his debut coming not long after in 2011.
Adnan was quick to become a first-team regular, replacing Bassim Abbas firstly at club level and soon after at international level - making his debut for Iraq in late 2012.
He was soon attracting interest from abroad and Saudi Arabian outfit Ittihad Jeddah came close to a deal - but the move fell through because delays over a visa meant the transfer could not be completed before the window closed.
Despite being a full international, he was included in the squad for the Under-20 World Cup and his displays in Turkey did not go unnoticed. The likes of Arsenal, Sevilla, Genoa and Livorno were all impressed but it was actually in Turkey where the strongest interest emerged.
Giants Galatasaray thought they had won the race for his signature, but instead Caykur Rizespor announced on August 1 that they had captured his signature.
However, it is already claimed that a number of Europe's top clubs are keeping close tabs on Adnan and his progress.
Adnan does appear to be the complete package, in terms of what teams want in a modern day full-back - but almost unusually, he is a very good defender - as well as being offensively very adept.
Adnan loves to get forward whenever possible and drive into the last third, and he clearly has a real eye for goal - with set-pieces becoming a real trademark of his play.
The scout says...
A very good young player, who looks to have chosen his next move wisely - opting to build his game and reputation - instead of looking to land a big move straight away.
But if his progress continues, then many are tipping him to become the leading light in Asian football in the not too distant future.
