Hamilton staged a remarkable comeback as they came from a goal and a man down to claim a 1-1 draw against Dundee at Dens Park.

While they could not do enough to move up into third place in the Scottish Premiership table, they did at least manage to stay ahead of their opponents in the standings.

Martin Canning's team started brightly and forced Scott Bain into an impressive double save through Carlton Morris.

But it was the Dens Park team who went ahead two minutes into the second half through Kevin Holt in fortunate circumstances.

He tried his luck with an audacious effort from 40 yards and the shot took a lucky deflection as it flashed past Michael McGovern and into the net.

From there, things got worse for Hamilton as Darian McKinnon was then sent off for taking out Thomas Konrad with a high tackle.

Yet the dismissal didn't deflate the hosts too much and, if anything, it inspired them to raise their game in the closing stages.

Canning's side wouldn't be denied, however, and Dougie Imrie snatched a point three minutes from the end from close range to give them a result they deserved.

At McDiarmid Park, Partick Thistle pulled off a relative surprise as they recorded only their second win of the league season against in-form St Johnstone.

The hosts had won their last three games and that run included a 3-1 win at Rangers in the League Cup and a 5-1 thrashing of Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Yet it was Partick who forged ahead and couldn't be caught as two first-half goals gave them a much-needed lift.

Gary Miller struck the opener on 28 minutes against his old club and Steven Lawless made it 2-0 just six minutes later with his first goal of the campaign.

St Johnstone didn't respond until after half-time, Steven MacLean netting two minutes into the second half with a header.

The Perth outfit couldn't find a leveller - despite Abdul Osman's late red card for Thistle - so they stay seventh, with Partick still sitting 11th despite their victory.

Indeed, the only team to move up the standings on Saturday was Kilmarnock, thanks to their 2-0 win over Inverness.

They swapped places with the Highland side after goals from Greg Kiltie and Josh Magennis gave them their third win of the top-flight campaign.

Kiltie gave Kilmarnock a crucial lead on the stroke of half-time when his low drive from 18 yards found its way into the net.

Kilmarnock then extended their advantage midway through the second half when Magennis, a hero in Northern Ireland's success in the European Qualifiers, scored too.

He combined well with Kallum Higginbotham and fired in from a tight angle, giving the Ayrshire side their first win in four outings.
