Brentford are hoping to appoint Swansea City assistant Pep Clotet as their new manager, according to Sky sources.

The Bees parted company with head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen in September following a poor start to the new Championship season and placed Lee Carsley in control of first-team affairs on a deal until the end of the campaign.

Carsley was named the Championship Manager of the Month for October after leading Brentford to four successive victories, including a 1-0 win over local rivals Queens Park Rangers.

Despite this impressive run which has lifted Brentford into the top half of the Championship table, Sky sources understand the club's hierarchy will press ahead with a move to secure Clotet as a long-term successor to Dijkhuizen.
