Steven Fletcher misses Scotland's Czech Republic trip due to illness

Steven Fletcher of Scotland celebrates scoring their second goal

Steven Fletcher will not feature in Scotland's friendly with the Czech Republic on Thursday after he pulled out of the squad.

The Scottish FA has confirmed the former Hibernian striker has not made the journey with the remainder of Gordon Strachan's party due to illness.

Fletcher, who has 25 caps to his name, is on loan at French side Marseille from Sunderland, and has scored one goal in five Ligue 1 appearances.

Scotland boss Strachan named two separate squads for the Czech Republic clash and the subsequent match against Denmark next Tuesday.

Fletcher is part of both squads and it is unclear whether he will be available to take on the Danes at Hampden next week.

It leaves Strachan with just two recognised strikers for the first of the two matches - Tony Watt, who is on loan at Blackburn from Charlton and yet to play for the senior team, and Fulham's Ross McCormack, who was called into the squad on Monday following Steven Naismith's withdrawal.
