Steven Taylor set to join MLS side Portland Timbers - Sky sources

Former Newcastle defender Steven Taylor will sign for Portland Timbers in the next 24-48 hours, according to Sky scources.

A Newcastle stalwart, Taylor was at the club for 21 years before deciding the time had come to move on when his contract expired in the summer.

Having come through the club's academy, Taylor made his first-team debut in March 2004 and went on to make 268 first-team appearances for the Magpies.
