Former Crystal Palace defender Adrian Mariappa has agreed to rejoin Watford on a three-year deal.

The 29-year-old became a free agent last month after his three-year contract with Palace came to an end.

SSNHQ reported on August 15 Hull City were in talks with the defender, but he has secured a return to the Premier League club with whom he began his career in 2005 before leaving in 2012.

The Jamaica international, who has 38 caps, played only seven times for Alan Pardew's Palace last season and was reportedly attracting interest from Rangers earlier in the summer.

Mariappa joined Palace when they were promoted to the Premier League in 2013 after spending a year at Reading, who were relegated to the Championship that summer.
