AZ Alkmaar missed the chance to put more pressure on Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven after having to settle for a 1-1 draw at Zwolle.

John van den Brom's men had been looking to chalk up an eighth straight league win to eat into the five-point gap on PSV, who had lost 3-0 at rivals Ajax on Sunday.

Zwolle, themselves out to keep on the tails of the Amsterdam side, went ahead on 32 minutes when Terell Ondaan slotted in a rebound.

However, the lead did not last long as Iranian midfielder Alireza Jahanbakhsh equalised just two minutes later with a near-post header.

Zwolle saw a great chance to win the match missed when, with just three minutes left, Bram van Polen fired a penalty over.

At the other end of the table, Twente moved off the bottom with a 2-1 win at NAC Breda, who drop to 16th.

The visitors took the lead early in the second half through Oussama Assaidi.

Breda, though, were level after an own goal by Twente defender Peet Bijen on 59 minutes.

Twente, however, got themselves back in front soon after as Assaidi chipped in his second after 61 minutes.

The home side finished with 10 men when goalkeeper Nigel Bertrams was shown a red card during stoppage time after racing across to hack down Luciano Slagveer as the Twente substitute raced clear down the right.
